Muslim States Tell Hamas To Recognize Israel

Just last week, the question was Why Is The Arab League Suddenly Condeming Syria?

Now Hamas is the target of the Muslim world:
Muslim states call on Hamas to recognize Quartet terms

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean called on Monday for Hamas to accept the Quartet’s three conditions for recognizing the Islamist movement – renunciation of violence, recognition of Israel and accepting the agreements signed in the past by Israel and the PLO.

Deputy Knesset Speaker MK Majallie Whbee (Kadima) said that all of the countries attending the meeting in Croatia, including Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria, as well as the Palestinian Authority, voted in favor of the resolution. The assembly, which has 23 member-states and aims to foster cooperation among Mediterranean countries, also called for a return to Israeli-Palestinian negotiations and an end to the conflict.

Of course, some countries were not present--countries which would have voted against the resolution: Turkey, Lebanon, Syria and Libya.

Also keep in mind that a list of Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean members shows that there are plenty of member countries that are not Muslim at all--for example, France, Portugal and Greece. And yes, Israel is a member.

Still, the vote is a surprise.

Whbee thinks the reason for the unexpected vote is because he agreed to allow the representative of the PA preside over the meeting.

Is it that simple?

Whatever the reason, let's see what the next step is.
