Hamas Trips All Over Itself For Arrigoni--But For Gilad Shalit, Nothing

The Hamas security apparatuses have conducted an extensive wave of arrests among Salafi-jihadi organizations in Gaza, in an attempt to apprehend the murderers of Italian ISM member Vittorio Arrigoni.

The Hamas administration in Gaza shut down the crossings to the Gaza Strip, including tunnels, in order to prevent the murderers from fleeing.
MEMRI, Hamas Conducts Wave Of Arrests of Salafi-Jihadis, April 18, 2011

I find it ironic that there was no outcry when Hamas closes border crossings, just as there was no world outcry when Hamas refused to take in aid last year that was sent by Israel.

But Hamas are the good terrorists. After all, Hamas went all out to find the people who killed Vittorio Arrigoni:

Hamas published pictures of three suspects wanted in for the murder of an Italian pro-Palestinian activist in Gaza last week, and the group is offering a cash prize for any information leading to their arrest.
In the end Hamas killed 2 suspected Muslim terrorists suspected in the kidnapping/murder of Arrigoni while attempting to capture them--but none of that of course will prevent Hamas, or any of the groups who took credit for the kidnapping, from now blaming the whole thing on Israel.

But the point is that Hamas knew it had to take action. They knew they had to do something to show they condemned the murder of Vittorio Arrigoni. They knew they could not afford to let negative press for the murder attach itself to them.

They knew that--just as they know they are safe from any world condemnation for the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit and from any condemnation for violating international law in refusing allow the International Red Cross any access to Shalit. For that matter, Hamas does not have to worry about any international condemnation for firing rockets at children in Israel either.

Life is good when you are the good terrorist group.

So stories like the one below will not make it to the pages of the media:

Because the fact that Israel is evil is a convenient given;
and Hamas are the good terrorists.

Fiamma Nirenstein gives more background on Hamas:
Hamas is responsible for the captivity of Gilad Shalit; it was responsible for the armed destruction of the UN recreational camp for children, which did not abide by Islamic dictates; it was responsible for arresting 150 women under the accusation of witchcraft and the execution of several of them [here]; it is Hamas that has introduced by law death penalty, whipping, cutting off hands and crucifixion [here], according to Sharia. Hamas killed the 32-year old Christian book salesman Rami Khader Ayyad, guilty of selling Bibles. Not all those who carry out these operations, or which Hamas gives orders to fire Qassam missiles against Israel, are members of the terrorist organization that rules Gaza; indeed at times it pretend to fight them. Hamas is a movement, a party, a fundamentalist State. Its statute stipulates that it wants to destroy the Jewish State, to exterminate Jews and impose an Islamic caliphate on the entire world. Salafite fringes and those linked more to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, those influenced to a greater or lesser extent by Iran or Al Qaeda and based in the Gaza Strip, join up and leave Hamas by turns. The fact that Hamas has now disowned the killers of Arrigoni is not of the slightest importance. In any case, they were still employed by Hamas as members of the Al Qassam Brigades [see here and here].
So don't go and blame Hamas for conditions in Gaza...
