THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AIPAC AND CAIR. Jonah Goldberg writes:

I love the CAIR story. Three more points: I hope the guys at MRC keep track of whether these reports have any effect on CAIR's media appearances, not just in terms of booking frequency but how they're introduced. I don't think the spokesmen for the Muslim community intros should fly anymore. And, second, I really, really, hope moderate Muslims and existing moderate Muslim groups take note of this and go on offense against CAIR. Lastly, I love this sort of reporting generally. On the left and the right there are countless organizations, based here in Washington, which claim to represent millions of Americans who have never heard of said organizations. Some groups are honest about it, simply asserting they represent a point of view. Many others are paper tigers, claiming hordes of followers but actually lacking sufficient staff to keep the fax machine and coffeemaker running at the same time.

George Soros may talk about creating an alternative to AIPAC because it does not represent the views of all American Jews, but the existence of a vocal constituency is not in doubt.

Of course Soros and his friends may very well claim that AIPAC does not represent the majority of American Jews, but then they are free to do the same kind of homework that The Washington Times did in order to back that up.
