FROM THE US--WITH HUGS AND KISSES. Why did a relative unknown defeat a former president in an election in Lebanon last week? Maybe the US backing had something to do with it:
“It’s the kiss of death,” said Turki al-Rasheed, a Saudi reformer who watched last Sunday’s elections closely. “The minute you are counted on or backed by the Americans, kiss it goodbye, you will never win.”
This can't be good for Abbas.
Come to think of it, it's not doing much for Olmert either.
