Daniel Diker from the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA) explains the necessary borders that Israel needs in order to defend against the growing Islamic threat of Iran and its proxies.

Along those lines, JCPA has an 85 page report: Iran, Hizbullah, Hamas and the Global Jihad: A New Conflict Paradigm for the West (PDF), dealing with the growing Iranian threat to the entire region.

You can read the summary here, which points out that apparently Olmert is not alone in totally misreading the situation facing Israel and the region:

It is striking that while these revolutionary changes are transpiring, many Western policy-makers seem to be locked into ideas for stabilizing the Middle East that were conceived more than a decade ago under completely different regional circumstances. This problem was particularly glaring in the report of the Iraq Study Group Commission, chaired by James Baker and Lee Hamilton, that sought to accommodate Iran (as well as its Syrian ally) and increase pressure on Israel to reach a settlement with its most radicalized neighbors.

Obviously, not all minds that think alike are great.
