Peres Visit Is A Historical First

Gateway Pundit writes about President Shimon Peres becoming the first Israeli President to address the parliament of any Muslim country when he addressed the Turkish parliament today.

The reception he received may have reminded him of the Israeli parliament:

The country's Islamist dailies, Vakit and Milli Gazete, ran front page headlines onTuesday that read,"Day of Shame", "That Murderer has no Place in the Parliament"and "Murderer with Muslim blood on his Hands: Get out!"

...Turkey, a NATO member and Israel's closest ally in the Islamic world, has in the past played the role of mediator between the Jewish state and its Muslim neighbors.

Well, I suppose it is a start.
