Ehud Barak Meets Iraqi President In Greece

This is the part that gets the headline:
Defense Minister Ehud Barak set a historic precedent on Tuesday when he met and shook hands with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani at a worldwide socialist party conference near Athens.

Barak, who came to the 23rd congress of the Socialist International at the Lagonissi Grand Resort as Labor chairman, exchanged a handshake with the Iraqi leader and spoke with him briefly.
Just before the end of the article:
Barak told the conference that Gaza's Hamas rulers must release captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit.
How does Barak say that with a straight face?
