Hamas is edging toward a ceasefire, apparently more willing to lose face than lose its head. Meanwhile:
In a related development, the Hamas government said that it would continue to function despite the "reoccupation" of the Gaza Strip by Israel.Apparently, among those services Hamas can be counted upon to provide its people is the ever popular 'government sponsored' black market:
"We are continuing to assume our responsibilities although the Gaza Strip has been divided," said a statement issued by the Hamas government. "We are continuing to provide the citizens with various services."
Hamas on Monday raided some 100 aid trucks that Israel had allowed into Gaza, stole their contents and sold them to the highest bidders.Apparently Hamas understands capitalism about as well as it understands democracy.
