Well, that's the theory at least.
One could argue that even with the July 7, 2005 bombing in London by Islamist terrorists, there is no non-Muslim land today that has shown more respect in their country for Muslims and their sensibilities than Great Britain.
From British banks banning piggy banks in 2005 to going unpunished just this week for yelling at British soldiers returning from Iraq and calling them "baby killers" and "terrorists"--
it would be hard to think of another country in the western world that has shown more tolerance and has done more to bend over backwards to accommodate their Muslim population.
And it looks like people in Great Britain are getting tired of what they see as a one-way street:
More than half the population believe Britain is deeply divided along religious lines, according to an official survey. For this they need funding?
A majority would also strongly oppose the development of a mosque in their neighbourhood, the research into social attitudes found.
Almost half - 45 per cent - say they do not believe that diversity has brought benefits to the country and that religious diversity has had a negative impact.
The government-backed inquiry revealed that only one in four people in Britain feel positively about Islam.
The warnings on the extent of the divide between Muslims and much of the rest of the country come in the annual British Social Attitudes survey, produced with funding from Whitehall.
Then again, what is the lesson from the survey supposed to be?
The social attitudes survey is produced by leading academics from interviews with 4,486 people. Its findings, to be published in full later this month, will raise concern that the Government's policy of producing 'social cohesion' by backing moderate Islam and isolating extremism is not working.Huh?
Maybe the place to start is figuring just which Muslims really are moderate.
My guess is that the fellow above is not.
Even better, maybe start treating all elements of the population equally.
Better yet: bring back Piglet!

Not really surprising. There's been so many pro-american media trying to portray Islam as the religion of hatred and violence or the religion strongly linked to terrorism, which created the conditions for Islamophobia to grow. What's more: as a result, there are many Islamophobic attacks in Britain. Despite the scale of attacks and abuse, there are very few reports on the issue by national media. Lack of legislation seems to be one of the biggest the problems. Britains have only small number of cases of racism or anti-Semitism because they are protected by laws and are outlawed.
