I was supposed to take my wife for an operation last week on her shoulder, but at the last minute it was postponed till today.
So there I was, sitting in the waiting room, trying to ignore what was on the television--and there was Barbara Walters on "The View." She was talking about what was happening in Egypt and about how what was happening over there in the Middle East was important to the US.
And why was is what is happening over there in Egypt important to the US?
Because of the effect it would have on the Middle East in general and the threat it would pose to Israel in particular. After all, Israel is an ally of the US.
Barbara Walters then went one step further, saying that the claims that Israeli concessions to the Palestinian Arabs are not the cause of instability in the region.
Wow.
If the operation had gone on as scheduled, I wouldn't have heard that--of course the vast majority of her audience probably didn't hear a thing, waiting for the next segment. But still.
Of course, there is no telling what I might have heard if the operation had gone on as scheduled last week--maybe Whoopi Goldberg singing the praises of the Bush Doctrine?
