That's right: Only in Jerusalem
Don't try this in Mecca.
Or Gaza
Or Egypt
Or West Bank
Or Lebanon
Or...
True, it's on Purim--but still, when during the year does a mosque allow this?
(Note: a lot of hits are coming off of Facebook. If someone could leave a comment letting me know whose Facebook page directed them here, I'd appreciate it. Thanks)
Technorati Tag: Jews and Western Wall and The Kotel.
Well... Spiderman praying alongside Haredi Jews... that's not a sight you see every day.
ReplyDeleteHeh
I thought his nickname was "Wallcrawler" apparently "Wallkisser" works well too!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it is weirder to wear a spiderman costume or a Siberian costume near the Kotel...
ReplyDeleteBoth are foreign customs and costumes anyway... goyishe mayses...
The costume isn't Siberian, it's Polish. But yes, totally inappropriate in the Middle East. Jews who lived inArab or Muslim lands never dressed in that fashion.
ReplyDeleteSergio, that is an interesting way of looking at it.
ReplyDeleteOf course, they don't see it as a costume, while "Spiderman" knows that he is (we hope).
