Growing Call For Hamas To Be Disarmed

It is becoming increasingly clear that the kind of ceasefire agreements between Hamas and Israel that brought temporary quiet in the past just won't do anymore. Given the range of missiles that Hamas has launched against civilian targets in Israel there is an increasing insistence that this time Hamas must be disarmed:

• The EU (EU calls for disarmament of terrorist groups in Gaza)
  

  "The EU calls on Hamas to immediately put an end to these acts and to renounce violence. All terrorist groups in Gaza must disarm."
  

  
  
• Dep. National Security Adviser Tony Blinken (White House Adviser: Cease-Fire Should Include Demilitarization Of Gaza)
  

  "There has to be some way forward that does not involve Hamas having the ability to continue to rain down rockets on Israeli civilians... One of the results, one would hope, of a cease-fire would be some form of demilitarization... that needs to be the end result of this process"

  
  
• Washington Post's editorial board: "The U.S. should push for the disarming of Hamas in Gaza-Israel cease-fire"
  
  
  
• Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (SC) and Democratic Senators Chuck Schumer (NY) and Ben Cardin (MD).(Senators push to end Hamas threat in cease-fire)
  

  Senate Republicans and Democrats insisted on Wednesday that any viable cease-fire between Israel and Hamas militants must eliminate the threat posed by Hamas rockets and tunnels.

The increasing rejection of Hamas -- by world leaders as well as by the Gazans themselves -- may finally lead to neutralizing the Islamist group.
