OLMERT HAS OVERCOME LEBANON. Like any politician, Olmert knows that the key is to be able to wait out the firestorm of criticism. It is a cynical approach, but generally--it works:

As noted, only a year has passed since the ceasefire, yet Lebanon is barely being discussed. Yes, here and there the successors are paying lip service, yet Barak and Netanyahu are no longer certain that Winograd will topple Olmert. They don't declare it out loud, yet this is what they think.
Why should Hizbollah attack Israel again from the outside, but they can keep things quiet and allow Israel to be eaten away from the inside?
