"I go to Nelson Mandela's birthday party every year and we're still very close. I believe if Yitzhak Rabin had not been murdered in 1995 we would have peace in the Middle East. I loved him as much as anyone I've ever known. At The Corner, Jonah Goldberg quotes a reader who wrote reacts to Clinton's comment:
...So far today, Bill has essentially blamed the Israelis for the lack of Middle East peace - in an aside from a genuinely ridiculous comment about how he'd take Hillary into the foxhole (saying that if Rabin were alive, there would be Middle East peace)...and then adds his own 2 cents:
You know, that's a good point about Rabin and peace in the Middle East. Clinton's in effect saying if only Israel had followed the policies Rabin would have followed [then] Hamas, Hezbollah and the rest of that misunderstood gang would have gladly made peace with Israel. That's really gross when you think about it.I just saw that Israel Matzav also noticed this post from the Corner and deals with the implications in depth.
Check it out.
