Western journalists, funders and decision-makers who deal with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict need to know that there are many truths being completely ignored or hidden from their eyes and ears.
Khaled Abu Toameh
Khaled Abu Toameh writes about The Palestinian Authority's Inconvenient Truths, noting that one of the benefits the Abbas regime gains through its consistent anti-Israel statement is that it makes it easier to hide the corruption and hypocrisy of the Palestinian Authority.
- Of the 600 Christians from Gaza who arrived in the West Bank to celebrate Christmas, dozens requested to move to Israel because they do nt feel comfortable living under the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. In fact, dozens of Christian families in east Jerusalem have moved into Jewish neighborhoods in Jerusalem because they don't feel comfortable living among Muslims.
- Tens of thousands of Palestinian Authority civil servants in Gaza receive salaries to just stay home and not work. This has been going on ever since Hamas took over Gaza in 2007. Fatah spokesman Ahmed Assaf confirms that the Palestinian Authority -- which is funded mostly by American and European taxpayer money -- spends around $120 million each month on the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.
- Despite calls for an economic boycott of Israel, more than 40,000 Palestinians have permits to work in Israel. Another 15,000 Palestinians work in Jewish settlements in spite of an official ban.
- Top PLO and Fatah officials shop in Israeli-owned businesses both in the West Bank and Israel. Just last week, a member of the PLO Executive Committee and his family were spotted shopping in Jerusalem's Malha mall. Recently, the wife of a senior PLO official spent $20,000 for dental treatment in Tel Aviv, despite the fact there is no shortage of renowned Palestinian dentists in Ramallah, Bethlehem and Nablus.
Why isn't the media reporting on this?
The media in the US and Europe is an accomplice not only to the dissemination of manufactured anti-Israel propaganda -- it is also party the facts of the Abbas regime that are being hidden from the public.
