I've written before that as a reporter, Karl Marx confirmed that Jews were a majority in Jerusalem as early as 1854.

Emet m'Tsiyon has written that Karl Marx apparently used diplomatic and historical sources about the Jewish majority in Jerusalem.

Now we have a new, unexpected source that Jews were a majority in Jerusalem already in the 19th century.

Doing Something Right

Mitt Romney held a fundraiser in Israel while he was here -- the first time ever for a presidential candidate.  And he raised over a million dollars.  That, surely, tells us something.

So does the response of spokesmen for the PA.  The Palestinian Arabs are not a happy group at the moment.  They are distressed that Romney didn't visit Ramallah during his trip here, and didn't meet with Mahmoud Abbas.

Last week, Jacques Gauthier came to town for a conference on who has the rights to Jerusalem.  Gauthier, who is a lawyer specializing in international law, says, hands down, the Jews do.  What is significant here is that he is not Jewish, and arrived at his opinion not from the basis of religious conviction, but rather from an examination of the legal and historical facts.
