BILL CLINTON: ARAFAT DID NOT KILL THE CHANCE FOR PEACE. Yoni The Blogger quotes from an article in Haaretz that according to Bill Clinton, "A peace agreement between Israel and Syria could be reached within 35 minutes"--and can do Clinton one better.

Meanwhile, more wisdom from Bill Clinton:
The former U.S. president also said that, in his opinion, the 1995 assassination of then-prime minister Yitzhak Rabin led to the failure of the peace process.

"[Former Palestinian Authority chairman Yasser] Arafat really trusted Rabin, and the assassination of Rabin killed the peace process," he said.
The first rule in handling terrorists is to gain their trust.

After Rabin was killed, the peace process accelerated with Israel withdrawing from Jenin, Shechem, Bais Lechem, Kalkilya, Ramallah and Tul Karen in just a few weeks. No doubt he still views Binyamin Netanyahu as a bigger obstacle to peace than the unreformed terrorist whom he protected.
