NGO Monitor: NGOs Exploit Holidays for Political Warfare Against Israel
|
Jerusalem - A number of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) claiming a moral human rights agenda are exploiting the holiday season and religious messages to advance prejudicial anti-Israel campaigns including in some cases blatant antisemitism, reports Jerusalem based research institute NGO Monitor. As in previous years, groups such as Christian Aid (UK), Kairos Palestine, Sabeel, War on Want (UK), Amos Trust, and Adalah-NY abuse holiday and religious symbols, using offensive and inflammatory rhetoric in Christmas carols, holiday messages and cards, and nativity scenes. Some use their holiday appeals to encourage boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) campaigns, adding fuel to recent discriminatory boycotts against academic institutions in Israel. |

EU Court Decision Highlights EU's Impunity for Non-Transparency
European Court of Justice rules on NGO Monitor petition without any hearing
Jerusalem - In a decision concerning a petition brought by Jerusalem-based research institute NGOMonitor, the European Union Court of Justice confirmed that the EU fails to act transparently in its funding of non-government organization (NGOs). The Court's decision, issued November 27, 2012, permitted these secret procedures, in violation of transparency and democracy norms, said NGOMonitor.
"For over a decade, the EU has acted with impunity in funding political advocacy NGOs with near total secrecy," said Prof. Gerald Steinberg, president of NGO Monitor. "Throughout, EU officials have attempted to justify the intense secrecy by using exaggerated claims of 'public security' and 'commercial interest.' The only reasonable conclusion is that the EU has something to hide."

NIF Network's Campaign on September Protests
B'Tselem's report on Nabi Saleh a pretense to discuss September
JERUSALEM - In advance of the Palestinian "September initiatives" at the United Nations, the New Israel Fund (NIF) network of organizations are conducting a coordinated campaign that accuses Israel of "infringing" on the "right to demonstrate" and ignores Israel's legal obligations to maintain public order. As a pretense to promote this agenda and pre-judge Israeli responses to predicted mass demonstrations, B'Tselem today published a politically motivated "report" on "Weekly Demonstrations in a-Nabi Saleh," according to Jerusalem-based research institute NGO Monitor.
