Prominent indicators confirm that the U.S. is the chief facilitator of the persecution of Christians around the world today.

According to the recently released 2014 World Watch List, which ranks the 50 nations where Christians are most persecuted, Syria is the third worst nation in the world in which to be Christian, Iraq is fourth, Afghanistan fifth, and Libya 13th. All four countries receive the strongest designation, "extreme persecution" (other designations are "severe," "moderate," and "sparse" persecution).

Aside from being so closely and harshly ranked, these four nations have something else in common: heavy U.S. involvement. Three—Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya—were "liberated" thanks to U.S. forces, while in the fourth, Syria, the U.S. is actively sponsoring "freedom fighters" against the regime, many of whom would be better labeled "terrorists."

Attacks on Christian children, both boys and girls, are on the rise in Egypt.

Last week, a six-year-old Coptic Christian boy named Cyril Yusuf Sa'ad was abducted and held for ransom. After his family paid off the Muslim kidnapper, Ahmed Abdel Moneim Abdel-Salam, he still killed the child and threw his body in the sewer of his house. In the words of the Arabic report, the boy's "family is in tatters after paying 30,000 pounds to the abductor, who still killed the innocent child and threw his body into the toilet of his home, where the body, swollen and moldy, was exhumed."

The world's double standards concerning which peoples qualify as oppressed and deserving of help are staggering. Two recent stories illustrate this point:

First, a report exposed, in the words of the Turkish Coalition of America, "Turkey's continued interest in expanding business and cultural ties with the American Indian community" and "Turkey's interest in building bridges to Native American communities across the U.S." Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla., even introduced a bill that would give Turks special rights and privileges in Native American tribal areas, arguing that "[t]his bill is about helping American Indians," and about "helping the original inhabitants of the new world, which is exactly what this legislation would do."

Silence Of Church Organizations About Muslim Persecution Of Christians is Deafening

But don't worry, they will always have Israel to condemn.

In New English Review, Dexter Van Zile writes about attacks on Israel by Methodist and Presbyterian organizations at the expense of their fellow Christians.

Earlier this month, the United Methodist Church’s General Conference voted down a divestment resolution but passed a resolution calling for a boycott of Israeli products made in the West Bank. The General Assembly of Presbyterian Church (USA) is considering two similar resolutions. And the United Church of Canada’s General Assembly will also be voting on a boycott resolution in the upcoming months.

All of these votes about Israel have, or will have, taken place against a backdrop of virtual silence about anti-Christian violence in Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East and North Africa.

Christians have been murdered in Iraq, Egypt and Nigeria and yet these churches say nothing, or almost nothing about these murders. They do however, talk incessantly about Israel.
