WHAT'S OLD IS NEW: David Ignatius' ingenuous article Rice's Mideast Minefield is summarized as:

Condoleezza Rice is trying to broker the creation of a Palestinian state even if she has to differ with the Israelis to do it.
Is this really news, considering how Rice has been forcing concessions out of Israel till this point anyway?

In the article itself Ignatius reveals:
Rice's position is that she won't refuse to talk to Palestinians just because they have become members of the Hamas-dominated government, if their past public statements have recognized Israel's right to exist.
If their past public statements have recognized Israel's right to exist? If this position is adhered to honestly, Rice really has limited who she can talk with.

But somehow, I don't think we need worry about Condoleezza Rice--we know she'll find a way.
