ISRAEL ISN'T THAT BAD--FOR A HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATOR: Powerline has a post that is right on the money, pointing up the hypocrisy of both the UN and Amnesty International. The issue surrounds Sudanese refugees who fled cruel conditions in Egypt to sneak into Israel. Now Olmert has reached an agreement with Mubarak to return the Sudanese refugees to Egypt.

Officials of Amnesty International and the UN have condemned the agreement.

Writes Powerline:
Poor Israel! Its status as the only "human rights violator" the U.N. cares about is truly unique. It gets condemned for returning refugees to Egypt; while, on the other hand, Egypt has not been condemned for the actions that caused them to flee in the first place. On the contrary: in May, the U.N.'s General Assembly elected Egypt to a seat on its Human Rights Council. More on that later.
On the other hand, could it be that these agencies have taken a pause from their regular ritual of Israel-bashing to simply recognize the fact that the Sudanese refugees will be safer and better treated in Israel than in Egypt--before going back to their regular condemnations? They probably don't even realize the hypocrisy in their actions.
