...the Iraqi government is nonfunctional and cannot produce a political settlementYet on Abbas, who has always been a weak leader--who does not keep his commitments to Israel, loses Gaza, names a soccer tournament for a murderer of children, and is known for corruption--on Abbas we have no comment and no outrage.
because it is too beholden to religious and sectarian leaders.
If the common wisdom is that peace in the Middle East rises and falls on the back of peace between Israel and Palestinian Arabs, where is Hillary Clinton?
And where is Obama, who also has come out against Maliki in Iraq?
Or do they think that Abbas is the right man for the job? If only Maliki were more like Abbas?Maybe we should be expecting Clinton and Obama to come out publicly contrasting the rightness of Bush's policy in Israel in contrast to Iraq?
Of course, we know that nothing will be coming out of the Democrats about Israel other than the regular platitudes.
Pity.
Technorati Tag: Israel and Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama and Maliki and Abbas.
