IS A HAMAS COUP IN THE WEST BANK AROUND THE CORNER? According to The Jerusalem Post:
According to the latest assessment, and contrary to earlier predictions, defense officials told The Jerusalem Post this week that Hamas was just as strong as Fatah in the West Bank and could pose a genuine threat to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's security forces.

On Monday, the London-based Al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper reported that Fatah security forces had recently thwarted an attempted coup in the PA by Hamas.

...The IDF Central Command believes that Abbas's time is running out and that in the coming months Hamas will try to topple his government in the West Bank and attempt to take over the PA security branches and institutions.
At least when Hamas takes over, Israel will have an enemy that most of the world can agree upon.

- that's a very positive outlook, but you don't believe that will enable Israel any leeway whatsoever in dealing with such a situation any more than I do.. The only result from such a very crappy thing will be the full collapse of any Hamas isolation and recognition of the terrorist govt by Europe et al because 'there is no other way' and its the 'humanitarian thing to do'.

The whole Hamas situation has been bungled from january last year, this can't be contained indefinitely - first Israel let them run, unbelievably.. but as soon as they won Israel should have immediately topppled the group, now this lack of initiative rolls from one disaster to the next. The end result will be dialog with Hamas the terrorist group

I am hoping that recent coverage of Fatah vs. Hamas, painting Fatah as the insurgents against Hamas' takeover (occupation?) of Gaza may be part of a growing trend that will isolate Hamas, regardless of their control of Gaza and the West Bank.

We are in a position where we can only hope--and pray that Am Yisrael merit a resolution to this war soon.
