As Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Amir Peretz said over the past several days, the mission objective was not to end the phenomenon of the daily rocket attacks, but rather to "reduce" them. The IDF noted with satisfaction that the rocket launching cells had been forced to move southward, and that the accuracy of their firings had been impaired.Quite an achievement, considering that Kassams are not noted for their accuracy to begin with. Once again, Israel sends the IDF on a mission without finishing the job. This cannot be good for anyone's moral--unless they are a terrorist. But this is what is happening both in the war with Hezbollah and in the incursions into Gaza. In Gaza in particular, the IDF has neither come any closer to rescuing Shalit nor putting a serious dent in the Kassam barrage.
For Arutz Sheva to be able to report, "The IDF says its goals were reached, though Kassams were fired even yesterday" is a travesty.
