Cardinal Requests Censorship of the Talmud

From The Telegraph correspondent blog ofDamian Thompson:
According to Cardinal Francis George of Chicago, in return for the removal of controversial references to the Jews in the Old Missal, Jewish religious leaders should make changes to traditional Hebrew texts that describe Jesus as illegitimate.
The controversy is over a particular form of Good Friday mass said by a small number of parishes which calls for the conversion of the Jews. The Cardinal said:
"I suspect (the amendment) probably will be (made), because the intention is to be sure that our prayers are not offensive to the Jewish people who are our ancestors in the faith," Cardinal George said in an interview with the National Catholic Reporter.

...But this should mean that Jews, in turn, consider amending their own religious texts, he said.

"It does work both ways. Maybe this is an opening to say, 'Would you care to look at some of the Talmudic literature's description of Jesus as a bastard, and so on, and maybe make a few changes in some of that?'"

Thompson concludes:
The interview is long and fascinating and you can find the whole text here. I agree wholeheartedly with the cardinal. What do you think?
Well, what do you think?

I really do not care what they say in church. It is humorous for Jews to ask for changes in the Christian liturgy. It is even more humorous that since the church no longer has the power to censor the Talmud, or to carry out mass burnings of it, this Cardinal George guy is asking the Jews to change it.

Also, just who would he expect to be "in charge" of both 'ordering' and carrying out such a change? It really is a bit absurd.
