But that's OK--Iran claims it is going to expose US crimes:
An Iranian lawmaker says the decision of the country's Majlis (parliament) to impose sanctions on 26 US officials over human rights violations will help expose US crimes.Iran goes so far as to claim that is has found 26 cases of "flagrant violations of human rights" by US officials--not surprisingly, Iran is kind of sketchy on the details, while going whole hog on the rhetoric.
“The US claims to be an advocate of human rights and accuses Iran of human rights violations, but a cursory glance at the deeds of most of American officials shows us numerous crimes against humanity and blatant instances of the violation of human rights committed by them,” IRNA quoted Iranian lawmaker Hossein Sobhani-Nia as saying on Thursday.
By the end of the article, we do--finally--find out some of the crimes that Iran wants to accuse the US:
Some of the atrocities committed by US officials as referenced by the motion include cases of human rights violation, construction and running of dreadful secret prisons, interference in the domestic affairs of regional countries and the killing of civilians. The accusation of "human rights violations" is again vague, but then they go on with secret prisons, interference in regional countries and killing civilians.
Apparently, Iran was in a pinch as to want to accuse the US of--so they just took examples from the human rights violations that they themselves are guilty of.
- Iranian prisons are known for the rape of prisoners--but there are first-person accounts of the dreadful conditions in Iranian prisons.
- Iran provides support for the crackdown in both Syria and Libya--and gives further support to extremist elements in Iraq.
- The crackdown on unarmed civilians who protested Irans rigged re-election of Ahmadinejad is well known.
