"I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran...In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them."
Hillary Clinton, April 22, 2012, during primaries
Of course, even then -- Hillary only said the US could obliterate Iran. She did not actually say the US would take action, any action, if Iran attacked Israel.
Today, Boker Tov, Boulder notes more Hillary Clinton bluster: despite Clinton's commitments to Israel in July the Obama administration will not draw red lines for Iran on its nuclear program.
It was reported in July that Hillary Clinton issues new Iran warning on Israel visit
Addressing a news conference after meeting President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mrs Clinton said everyone would prefer a diplomatic resolution to the Iran nuclear issue. No word what those "elements of American power" might be, but the Obama administration has made clear today through the Secretary of State that verbal force is not one of those elements.
She said: "Iran's leaders still have the opportunity to make the right decision. The choice is ultimately Iran's."
But Mrs Clinton added: "We will use all elements of American power to prevent Iran developing a nuclear weapon."
Today, it is being reported Washington ‘Not Setting Deadlines’ for Iran, Clinton Says:
The U.S. is “not setting deadlines” for Iran and still considers negotiations as “by far the best approach” to prevent the Islamic Republic from developing nuclear weapons, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said.If the Obama administration can not even be relied upon to make a clear statement, pointing out the red lines that it will not allow Iran to cross, who believes for a moment that the US can be relied upon as an ally to take actual military action when needed?
Also consider that just last week
- Debbie Wasserman Schultz lied about Israel Ambassador Oren saying Republican actions are a threat to Israel
- Democrats lied about have a 2/3 majority to include Jerusalem in the Democratic Platform
Both were done with no repercussions and no backlash. So when Hillary says negotiations, which have not slowed down Iran (in fact, Iran has sped up its nuclear program) are “by far the best approach,” just why should anyone take the Obama administration seriously.
Least of all US allies.
And certainly not our enemies.
