Abbas Recalls 1969 To Prevent Peace With Israel

Jonathan S. Tobin writes about the often ignored fact that Abbas has been the obstacle to peace for 4 years:

Abbas knows very well that Israel offered the Palestinians a state including a share of Jerusalem three times. The first two offers in 2000 and 2001 were made to Abbas’ predecessor Yasir Arafat but the latter was given to Abbas in 2008. While his apologists continue to insist he never formally turned it down, that was only because he never replied and shut down the talks with Israel as soon it was clear that he would be put on the spot and asked to choose between peace and continuing conflict.

Read the whole thing.

Abbas's latest ploy to prevent peace was to commemorate the attempt to burn down a mosque -- back in 1969 by a Christian who was found to be deranged and was sent back to Australia. This did not stop Abbas for throwing in wild accusations against his erstwhile peace-partners of plots to destroy mosques.

Abbas is now approaching the end of the 8th year of his 4 year term, but the West does not seem to mind saddling the Palestinian Arabs with the corrupt Abbas regime for another 8 years.
