Obama Successfully Foists Dictator Back on Honduras (Pity Honduras Is Not In The Middle East)

Mubarack only wishes he had received such consideration from the Obama administration.

Not that the former despot, President Manuel Zelaya of Honduras, will actually return to power--but upon his return, he does plan to run again in the next election.

The story is one of inexplicable exercise of US force to ignore the Constitution of Honduras and the legal deposing of a dictator who likewise tried to bypass the law--and force the country to take back the dictator they had expelled from their country.

For more details, check out Obama's Greatest Foreign Policy Victory - Manuel Zelaya Returns To Honduras at Legal Insurrection.

So why does Zelaya, ally of Hugo Chavez, merit such treatment--and why does the current president of Honduras, as of January 27, 2010, Porfirio Lobo Sosa, not merit consideration?

  • Unlike Netanyahu, Sosa never spoke before Congress
  • There is no "Honduran Spring" to capture the imagination--or force the US's hand
  • Unlike Iran, Honduras did not have the wherewithal to withstand US pressure

If only Honduras was located in the Middle East.
