Who Knew That Iran And Facebook Had So Much In Common!?

The Iranian press is reporting on an apparent downtrend in Facebook:
With Facebook's goal to reach one billion active users, it has recently been relying on developing countries to boost its numbers, as the rate of growth has slowed down for the second month in a row.
Iran is not exactly distraught at the prospect of Facebook shrinking in size, since the popular social networking site has helped organize popular protests--but maybe part of the enmity comes from what Iran and Facebook share in common

Just consider the similarities:

Facebook wants to increase its influence to 1 billion users.
Iran wants to increase its influence to 1.6 billion Muslims.

Users of Facebook are in fear for their privacy.
Citizens of Iran are in fear for their lives.

Facebook's facial recognition technology is considered threatening.
Iran's nuclear technology is considered threatening.

Developing countries such as Mexico and Brazil are strong sources of growth for Facebook.
South American such as Venezuela and Bolivia are strong sources of growth for Iran.

Mark Zuckerberg, started Facebook while in college.
Ahmadinejad got his start during the Iranian hostage crisis--while he was in college.
No wonder they are in competition--though at this point, Facebook is more of a threat to Iran than Iran is to Facebook.
