Ignoring the threat as well as the success of the fence in preventing Palestinian terrorists from carrying out their missions, most countries have joined the Arab world in accusing Israel of everything from racism and ethnic cleansing
In that context, let's take a look at the fence now being built by UNIFIL in Lebanon to prevent access to Israelis--or in this case, Israeli cows.
From The Daily Star:
UNIFIL lay groundwork for fence to stop Zionist cows
Yet, no one accuses UNIFIL of bovine cleansing.
The Spanish contingent operating as part of the United Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) pursued works to build a fence to surround the Baathaiil Lake in the southern Kfar Shuba, while talks to dispose of the cadaver of a cow that recently died came to a halt, according to a report carried by the state-run National News Agency on Sunday. The UNIFIL is building the fence with the aim of preventing cows from Israeli flocks crossing the Blue Line and using Lebanese water supplies. According to the NNA report, the Spaniards laid the final touches for the fence’s foundations. The fence, which will be made from fortified iron, will be two meters high and surround the Baathaiil Lake once finished in three weeks time. Meanwhile, a decision has yet to be reached concerning the disposal of a cow cadaver recently found near the lake. While Lebanese authorities refused to burry [sic] the cadaver in its territories and requested that it be moved to the occupied part of Kfar Shuba, the Israelis so far ignored the matter.
Now, no one would denigrate the justifiable concern for the lives of the citizens of Lebanon from potential disease caused by a dead cow infecting the water supply. And no one would object to building a fence to keep animals from one country from entering and using the resources of another.
But no one is going to say that the Lebanese fence is biased against cows.
And no one is going to deny their right to protect their property.
Yet when it comes to Israel's security fence--
It is interpreted as being directed at Palestinian Arabs as a whole.
And Israel's right to protect their people is ignored.
Another example of UN priorities in action.
