So Now There Are At Least Two Chassidic Police In The US--And One Of Them Is A Woman

Rockland County Police Academy in New York had never seen anything like it.
"A guy walks in with a bowler hat on, a beard, a coat coming down to his knees," says Sheriff James Kralik. "He looks like something out of 'Fiddler on the Roof.' "
It was Shlomo Koenig, now Deputy Shlomo Koenig, perhaps the only Hasidic police officer in the nation.

Ramapo gives new Orthodox Jewish cop the Sabbath days off pending review

...Glauber, an ultra-Orthodox Jew who married under the Hasidic beliefs, graduated last month from the Rockland Police Academy. She completed the six months of physical training and educational classes to become a police officer.

She asked for the Sabbath off.

For now, her request has been granted, although they are still looking into it, and expect her to come in on Shabbos should the situation call for it.
