Why Are There Muslim Calls To Kill Jews On The USC Server?

Reut Cohen, who also runs a blog about anti-Israel, anti-Semitic and anti-American incidents on campus, has a post at Pajamas Media about what the Muslim Student Union chapter at the University of Southern California is getting away with.

Recently USC Muslim Students Association page featured the following quote:
Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him.
When this was brought to the attention of the University, they had it removed--good for them.

But some of this stuff still remains on the USC website, specifically where the Muslim Students Association keeps a Compendium of Muslim Texts. One of these texts is the Sahih al-Bukhari, a collection of Hadits--oral traditions.

In the translation of Book 52, in a section entitled Fighting for the Cause of Allah (Jihaad), you will find the following:

Another section, entitled Virtues and Merits of the Prophet (pbuh) and his Companions, has more of the same.

Cohen concludes:
These quotes appear in more than one location, as is traditional in Islamic theology and an indication of authenticity.  Since early 2008 the Muslim Students Association has been asked to repudiate this genocidal hadith and terrorist organizations by the David Horowitz Freedom Center. Every individual MSA chapter has failed to repudiate the genocidal imperative contained within the hadith and has also failed to condemn terrorist groups like al-Qaeda, Hamas, and Hezbollah.
Maybe the next Islamist group that claims to condemn terrorism should be asked to repudiate this Hadith.

Let's start with CAIR.

No, no, no, this text removal is not good, it's terrible to the extreme. The Hadith (in addition to the Sira) provides the critically necessary context to understand the context-lacking Quran. The Hadith is consists of many volumes and volumes and volumes, and the USC website provided a valuable academic resource to the world -- how many times I used that site to show Muslims themselves the hate of their "prophet."

So some people have very, very foolishly -- one of the stupidest things done in the ideological WOT -- applied pressure to get certain ahadith suppressed/removed from the site. I can't tell you how angry I am at their actions. The collection was already incomplete, and now it's even worse. Expose, expose, expose, not suppress, suppress, suppress. Support for speech suppression will only add to rapid increase of using speech suppression against Jews and Christians. BRING BACK THE TEXTS NOW!

p.s. and many, many books I own that expose Islam repeatedly in footnotes and endnotes reference these websites using the USC site, it is the standard, and now when people go to check the reference, some of the ahadith won't be there. Not helpful.

And one more thing, removing more of this resource also has the downside of pushing some of us Islam-curious to spend more time at the local mosque (to use their library), and depending on the person, that's not always such a great idea.

Well, there will always be the Hamas Covenant.

Unless of course you are worried that we'll get them to expunge the quote from their covenant...

But you do have a point.

The case of the USC texts is not anything like the Hamas Covenant (though they certainly are what provided the basis for the Hamas Covenant), nothing analogous at all, nothing -- instead they are consist of the very texts that define Islam, which contrary to public misperception are not limited to Quran alone, but Quran and Sunnah (which consists of Hadith and Sira), and not only that, but the USC site has a "Search" feature for both Quran and Hadith. So,

(1) if the "bad" parts of either Quran or Hadith are excised, then when one searches for every appearance in Hadith of the word "Jews" to find out what authoritative Islam says about them, then voila, all one pulls up will be a list of "nice" verses, giving a totally false impression of what Islam is.

(2) Muslims are required to follow Quran *and* the example of Muhammad -- therefore, for Isael, the USA, or the world to know, predict with certainty, what the global Islamic nation ("ummah") or a particular part of it (Palestinians, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Iraq) will or will not do re: treaties, military strategy, ceasefires, prisoners, governance, etc, -- it's all in the Sunnah, since that is where Mo's example is found -- so if you excise that example or discourage reading it, you do so to policymakers and an informed public's peril. It is the Islamic playbook. It is not some addon or even some suggestion, it is required -- for all Muslims, everywhere, of all time. Military strategy --it's in there, infiltration strategy -- it's there, deception strategy -- it's in there, what's never allowed re: land question -- it's in there, etc.

(3) The rabbis and others who pushed/are pushing for removing bad parts of these authoritative historical and still guiding texts are doing the exact opposite of what needs to be done, exact opposite. Since already Quran and Hadith are being whitewashed or "sanitized" for the general public, but not to the imams of the mosques, what is needed is not further hypocrisy w/the wrong image to the public, but the opposite, demanding that the real, unsanitized texts be revealed.

YouTube video "A. Y. Ali's Quran Part 162" gives an illustration of how to expose such santization. (And to think that now the well-intentioned Simon Weisenthal Center and others are doing what the jihadists themselves do, changing the public face of Islam, while not changing the texts themselves! They are aiding the enemy!)

But even better than YouTube, is the excellent, new, heroic anti-Islamist website muhammadtube dot com where one can click on categories like Hadith or Quran and learn a lot -- I personally recommend the educational videos of the users MuhammadsQuran and investigateislam. Try for ex, "Jews: Killers of Prophets #129", to see how to confront and expose the texts, which is the #1 thing that must be done to challenge Islam -- challenge/expose the texts -- to both Muslims and non-Muslims. Truth is what is needed, not a fake public image -- that's the tactic of Condi and Bush!

That's true--someone who wants to find out about the attitude of Islam towards Jews will go to a database where he can do a search, rather than go to the site of a terrorist group.

CINDY:

I think you are grossly mistaken about the Muslim attitude towards Jews - very grossly mistaken. I think you need to restart your research on what you call "Exposing Islam". Very grossly mistaken. You need to first remove the bias from your mind first. Then with positive attitude and with an open mind you restart your research. You'll find your whims and notions collapse in no time. You read about what Quran has to say about jEWS,about Prophet Moses & Jesus & the bounties which God bestowed upon the Jews and the Muslim-Jewish relationship till the 20th century. But as said in the Quran & Hadith the treachrous & torturous attitude of Jews came to the limelight when they started persecuting the Muslims in their own land and brainwashed every individual and took control of every nation against the Muslims. The hatred in them is indigenous and became even more intense after seeing the success of Islam which is the religion which came from the offspring of Ismael.

To Cindy:

Regarding your Hadith problem about Jews geting killed by the MUslims, that is a prophesy & not an order to us. We are not supposed to kill any Non-Muslim not even a Jew for no reason. The Jews in general had deviated from the religion which was given to them by God & had misused the bounties which God had bestowed upon them, thats what we are told in the Quran & Hadith about their obstinacy. So don't take it as sense of hatred.

But, you see, the way these proud Jews have been treating the Muslims, first persecuting them & occupying their land then spreading immorality amoung the Muslims, then conspiring against them secretly through other countries and then generalising the Muslims as terrorists. This is to frustrating for the Muslims. And if they carry on with this time is not far enough when the prophesy wil come true. Unfortunately many people are falling prey to their conspiracy but at the same time many are being guided to light. Today, in Europe, huge number of people are accepting Islam as their religion. These are the same people who start researching to "Expose Islam" but end up accepting it. I ALSO INVITE YOU TO THE HOUSE OF ISLAM - CINDY. ACEPT ISLAM AS YOUR WAY OF LIFE. YOUR BODY, MIND, HEART & SOUL WILL FIND ALL PEACE, LIGHT & TRUTH IN IT.

To CINDY:

You don't have to go to websites & you tubes to do your research. Open the Quran and the Life of the Prophet from authentic Islamic sources. Don't use E-Qurans or E-Hadiths. They are many a times brought forth by the Jews.

Sit alone under a tree, Read the true Quran & Life of the Prophet MUhammad (Peace & Blessings of Allah) be upon Him & you will see, you will guided to light.

Daled Amos said...

Emran, you claim that Jews persecuted Muslims?

That is absurd.

The entire history of Islam, when Muslims are not killing each other, is a story of conquest of other peoples.

And when it came to treating Jews, historically Muslims have persecuted Jews for centuries--as detailed here.

All you have to do is look at the history of Islam.

I think you have wrong copy of the History of Islam. May be some Historian of your backyard or somebody which suites your prejudices. Read the Jewish Historian Ami Isseroff. The first Persecution that was done to the Jews was from the Romans in the name of Christianity. Then the Romans were kicked out by the Muslims & liberated Jews from the clutches of the Romans. Then allowed the Jews as well as peaceful Christians to settle down. But the Jews had already fled to Europe. Not a single case of persecution was carried out by the Muslims. Then during the Crusades again the Christians persecuted the Muslims and captured Jerusalem. Again the Colonial powers most of whom were Christian nations again persecuted the Non-Chritians & even converted people forcefully into Christianity. During the Dark Ages the Christians were engaged in Supersitions & witch Huntings. During the Second World War, Hitler (Christian) got 6 Million Jews meshed up and that mesh was poured over the Agriculture Land as fertilizer. Again we Muslims allowed the Jews to settle down with us in Palestine. But this time the Jews had some other plans because we are the children of Hagar. Today it is the Christian Nations USA, UK, France etc who are causing the trouble throughout the world. So it is the Christians who boast about Jesus & Love, Jesus & Love who come in Sheep Skin but inwardly are ravening wolves. There's nothing Jesus about them, there's nothing Love about them.

We are not dealing with prejudices, but with facts. The Islamic persecutions are documented. Obviously Muslims did not acquire their global reach through conversions--or are you unaware of the Charles Martel and The Battle of Tours?

In terms of Muslim persecutions, in his foreward to Andrew Bostom's heavily documented book, The Legacy of Islamic Anti-Semitism: From Sacred Texts to Solemn History, Ibn Warraq provides proof of Islamic persecution and forced conversion of the Jews, quoting Maimonides:

Moses Maimonides [1135 -1204], Jewish rabbi, physician, and philosopher, was fleeing the Muslims, the intolerant Almohads who conquered Cordoba in 1148. The Almohads persecuted the Jews, and offered them the choice of conversion to Islam, death, or exile. Maimonides' family and other Jews chose exile. But this did not bring any peace to the Jews who had to be on the move constantly to avoid the all-conquering Almohads. After a brief sojourn in Morocco and the Holy Land, Maimonides settled in Fostat, Egypt, where he was physician to the Grand Vizier Alfadhil, and possibly Saladin, the Kurdish Sultan.

Maimonides's The Epistle to the Jews of Yemen 3 was written in about 1172 in reply to inquiries by Jacob ben Netan'el al-Fayyūmi, the then head of the Jewish community in Yemen. The Jews of Yemen were passing through a crisis, as they were being forced to convert to Islam, a campaign launched in about 1165 by 'Abd-al-Nabī ibn Mahdi. Maimonides provided them with guidance and with what encouragement he could. The Epistle to the Jews of Yemen gives a clear view of what Maimonides thought of Muhammad the Prophet, “the Madman” as he calls him, and of Islam generally. This is what Maimonides wrote:

You write that the rebel leader in Yemen decreed compulsory apostasy for the Jews by forcing the Jewish inhabitants of all the places he had subdued to desert the Jewish religion just as the Berbers had compelled them to do in Maghreb [i.e.Islamic West]. Verily, this news has broken our backs and has astounded and dumbfounded the whole of our community. And rightly so. For these are evil tidings, "and whosoever heareth of them, both his ears tingle (I Samuel 3:11)." Indeed our hearts are weakened, our minds are confused, and the powers of the body wasted because of the dire misfortunes which brought religious persecutions upon us from the two ends of the world, the East and the West, "so that the enemies were in the midst of Israel, some on this side, and some on that side." (Joshua 8:22).

Maimonides points out that persistent persecutions of the Jews by the Muslims amounts to forced conversion:

…the continuous persecutions will cause many to drift away from our faith, to have misgivings, or to go astray, because they witnessed our feebleness, and noted the triumph of our adversaries and their dominion over us...

...He notes the depth of Muslim hatred for the Jews, but he also remarks on the Jewish tendency to denial, a feature that he insists will hasten their destruction:

Remember, my co-religionists, that on account of the vast number of our sins, God has hurled us in the midst of this people, the Arabs, who have persecuted us severely, and passed baneful and discriminatory legislation against us, as Scripture has forewarned us, 'Our enemies themselves shall judge us' (Deuteronomy 32:31). Never did a nation molest, degrade, debase and hate us as much as they .... Although we were dishonored by them beyond human endurance, and had to put with their fabrications, yet we behaved like him who is depicted by the inspired writer, "But I am as a deaf man, I hear not, and I am as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth." (Psalms 38:14). Similarly our sages instructed us to bear the prevarications and preposterousness of Ishmael in silence. They found a cryptic allusion for this attitude in the names of his sons "Mishma, Dumah, and Massa" (Genesis 25:14), which was interpreted to mean, "Listen, be silent, and endure." (Targum Pseudo-Jonathan, ad locum). We have acquiesced, both old and young, to inure ourselves to humiliation, as Isaiah instructed us "I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair." (50:6). All this notwithstanding, we do not escape this continued maltreatment which well nigh crushes us. No matter how much we suffer and elect to remain at peace with them, they stir up strife and sedition, as David predicted, "I am all peace, but when I speak, they are for war." (Psalms 120:7). If, therefore, we start trouble and claim power from them absurdly and preposterously we certainly give ourselves up to destruction."

By peaceful Christians and Jews, I assume you mean dhimmis--second class citizens who paid extra taxes and were at the mercy of Muslims in court where their testimony was discounted.

Your version of history is naive.

To Dael Amos

And why your version of History is authentic??? There are documented proofs that Muslims didn't carry out persecutions. You see, the very title of the book that you read "Legacy of Islamic Anti-Semitism..." clearly shows that the author Andrew Bostom is a biased person. And your prejudice makes you to read such useless stuff which serves no purpose and wastage of your precious time. During the 19th & 20th century thousands of books have been written against Islam in which there has been a large scale propaganda against the Islamic doctrine as anti-semitic etc. and you have exactly fallen prey to such useless & biased stuff. Its all junk that you refer to. Better for you is to read direct sources of History. And before that you have to clear the sicknesses from your mind. If you read the Glorious Quran you will find the cure to all your sicknesses. All your prejudices will be washed down. What Islam has to say about Moses & Jesus and the wonderful gifts that were bestowed upon the Jews and how they misused these gifts of God.

On the other you read Talmud which is considered to be above Torah in Jews what it has to say about the Non-Jews and how they are to be treated. The Non-Jews, in Talmud, are considered to be Gentiles - Animals like Dogs, Pigs & Donkeys & deserve to be used like other animals & even their Rabbis call for ethnic cleansing of Muslims including their so-called "Democratic Government". The Protestant & Catholic Christians (Cunning People) have joined their voice against the Muslims and justify the persecution of Palestenian Muslims because "the Land belonged to the Jews 3000 years ago." How sick is this thinking!!! Also something has been written in the Book of Revelation about the future so the present must be manipulated according to that. i do not completely rule out the fact that the Muslims have committed some bad things but today the real culprits are the Christians & the Jews who are causing all the trouble in the world and accuse Muslims as being extremists & Terrorists. Sorry Bro, you got to smell the stinkin your own backyard.
